Omega Produces Award-Winning Customer Documentation

Released in November 2007.

Omega Design Corporation won two awards in a technical communication competition for the design and content of its machine user manuals.

In November 2007, the Philadelphia Metro Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), the largest professional society in the world dedicated to technical writers, editors, visual designers, and usability experts, held its annual competition in technical communication. The Society invited members and non-members to submit their best works in various categories for expert judging and critique.

Omega submitted a user manual based on one of its industry-leading Shrinkbundler packaging machines. The manual covered all topics that customers expect, plus customized sections on safety, operation, changeover, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The Society honored Omega with awards in two categories:

  1. An Award of Merit in the Technical Publications Competition: Information Materials
  2. An Award of Merit in the Technical Art Competition: Manual / Book Design

Omega is extremely pleased with these awards and thinks this is a fine example of the strides the organization is making to provide its customers with value-added products and services.

Customers will also be pleased to work with our quality documentation. A well-designed manual supports the flow of information and the ease with which readers can locate, identify, and understand specific information. Further, customers will discover that clear and comprehensive content supports the learning process and serves as a trusted and invaluable reference. Ultimately, the intended users (Engineers, Managers, Operators, and Technicians) will be better informed and better equipped to independently tackle any issue that may affect the machine’s performance.
