Lionville Middle School wins "Cool Award" for its video profile of Omega

Omega congratulates the Lionville Middle School student team who won the coveted "Cool Award" in the 2017 What's So Cool About Manufacturing regional competition.

An awards ceremony was held on Tuesday evening, April 4th, at the Penn State Great Valley campus with more than 250 attendees.  PA State Senator Andrew E. Dinniman was there to present prizes and to address the audience about the importance of manufacturing in our constantly changing world.

The “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” Video Contest is a growing initiative that started in the Lehigh Valley a few years ago. The initiative provides small teams of school students with a GoPro camera and assigns them to a local manufacturer.  The teams create short video profiles of their assigned companies and the career opportunities they offer.

Omega's Role in the Community

This is the second year of the What's So Cool About Manufacturing contest in Chester County and the second time that Omega was a participating manufacturer. Omega routinely partners with the Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties (MACCDC) and other local organizations to raise awareness and interest in manufacturing careers.

Omega's Kourtney Caspersen, who is the Chair of the Youth Committee of the MACCDC, received praise at the awards ceremony for her efforts.  The Chair of the Manufacturing Alliance singled out Kourtney as "the driving force" behind this year's competition and "it wouldn't have been possible without her."
