We Need You to Be a Primary Technical Resource to Support the Sales Cycle of New Equipment Projects

YOUR KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

We make an extraordinary variety of packaging automation solutions for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, personal care, and consumer goods industries. Our products help move essential products safely and efficiently through the supply chain.

As an Applications Engineer, you will support the Sales Department in the pricing and customization of potential projects and assist our Project Managers in communicating technical requirements for new projects. Further, your contributions will have a direct and meaningful impact on how we standardize, improve and enhance our machines. You will:

  • Monitor status of various quoting projects, checking in with Salespersons regularly, and assess engineering needs and priorities per project.

  • Working in SolidWorks or DraftSight to finalize new and revised assembly details

  • Referencing previous projects’ drawing files and other technical documentation to create machine layout drawings and other documents that represent a potential project’s configured machine(s).

  • Thoroughly review customer requirement specifications and provide an itemized and detailed response document that identifies discrepancies or clarifications between customer requests and Omega proposed solution.

  • Provide Sales Department with estimated material costs and labor costs for a potential project and a summarize the content included in the cost.

  • Participate in sales calls with the customers when the customer or project requires technical expertise or discussion of Omega response to customer requirements.

  • Review proposed product design for compliance with engineering principles, applicable regulations, company standards, and customer contract requirements and related specifications.

  • Participates in developing and maintaining engineering standards for the engineering group and company products overall.

  • Participate in performing value and product improvement analysis to enhance manufacturability, productivity, reliability, safety, quality, standardization, customer appeal, and cost effectiveness.

  • Works independently and under minimal supervision prosecuting assignments.

  • Assist in designing and organizing any testing that may be required for a potential project.

  • After receipt of customer purchase orders, assist in; organization of internal kickoff meeting, the summarizing of project and technical requirements, introducing Department Leads to the project, outline a proposed bill of material for the project, and where standard assemblies are known for the project; release parts to the Purchasing Department for their work orders and purchasing.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

As an Applications Engineer, you will be based out of our headquarters in Exton, Pa. Omega offers its employees hybrid work options (on-site and remote) and flexible work weeks. There could be occasional travel, like to attend an annual tradeshow or to receive some training.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related Engineering area (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls) is required and 5+ years of progressively more responsible experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to create and communicate engineered design concepts, for potential projects, with minimal support from others is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Solidworks 3D Modeling software.

  • Proficiency with Infor Visual ERP software required.

  • A well-rounded familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and controls design is a plus.

  • Experience with file management software, such as Adept or PDM, is a plus.

  • Experience with change-control practices is a plus.

  • Experience with systems integration involving multiple vendors is a plus.

  • Experience with capital equipment or engineered-to-order products is a plus.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills.

  • Must have excellent communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly when speaking and writing and represent the company in a professional manner.

  • You’ll report to the Applications Manager in the Applications Department

  • FLSA Status: Exempt
